Flavors of Northern Rhode Island

Sample your favorites from 20 Northern Rhode Island’s best restaurants as the Haven of Grace hosts its 8th annual “Flavors of Northern RI” on September 8th from 5:30 to 8 PM at the Cercle Laurier, East School Street in Woonsocket. Tickets @ $15 are available at the door or call Susan Mansfield at 766-0284.


Ham and Bean Supper

USJB Chapter 119 is hosting a Ham & Bean Supper on Saturday, September 18 from 4:30-7 PM at the Fr. Marot CYO Center to support the ministry of the Center. All are cordially invited. Menu: hand carved ham, beans, coleslaw, brown & Italian bread, pineapple slices, pickles, dessert and coffee. Cost is $9/adults & teens, $4 for children 6-12, under 6 - free. Tickets will be available at the door. Or if you can’t attend and wish to make a donation, send to Louise Mailloux, 7 Earl St. Lincoln, 02865. Checks should be made out to “USJB -Chapter 119”


National Recovery Month (September)

The diocesan Secretariat for Catholic Charities and Social Ministry is participating in National Recovery Month this September. This recognizes those in recovery from alcohol or drug use. 7-0% of Rhode Islanders report knowing someone who has or is addicted to alcohol or drugs. Marriage Anniversary Celebration

The 4th Annual Diocesan Marriage Celebration of couples who are celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th and over anniversaries of marriage this year is planned for Sunday, October 3 at 1 PM at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter & Paul in Providence. Couples wishing to attend should pick up a registration form in the sacristy and register as soon as possible. The diocese would like to know you’re coming by September 3rd in order to get the program and special certificates printed. Please see Fr. Moe.


The 40 Days for Life Kick Off Rally will be held on Friday, September 17 beginning with a social at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of Loretto Hall, 346 Waterman Avenue in East Providence. Guest speakers include Fr. John Codega, Fr. Robert Forcier, Barth Bracy, executive director of RI Right to Life and Christopher Plante, executive director, National Organization for Marriage. In addition to the speaking agenda there will be personal witnessing, music and prayer. Call 4221-7833 x 138 to RSVP. This rally is sponsored and organized by the Diocesan Office of Life & Family Ministry. All are welcome.


Holiday Bazaar - Plans are in the works!

The Holy name Society and the St. Vincent DePaul Society will again be sponsoring a parish holiday bazaar:

Date: Saturday November 13
Time: 9 AM to 6 PM.

We are presently seeking donation of restaurant gift certificates, hand made craft items, and other items for our ‘themed’ basket penny social. Gifts can be left at the rectory. Gifts can be left at the rectory.


Respite Care

The Diocese of Providence, Community Services and Catholic Charities provides assistance to family caregivers who care for a person over 60+ years, or someone with Alzheimer’s’ of any age. If you are one of the over 100,000 Rhode Islanders caring for someone you may need an occasional break! Respite care is arranged by bringing a trained worker into the home, arranging for Adult Day Services, or providing overnight care in a licensed facility. For low to moderate income seniors assistance in paying for respite care may be available. Take care of yourself by taking a break! Call ( 421-7833 Monday - Friday.
